O Brasil e os países da América do Sul compartilham importantes sistemas aquíferos, como o Guarani. A forte expansão urbana e da fronteira agrícola nos países da região vêm afetando a quantidade e qualidade da água subterrânea, seja pela redução da recarga ou pela contaminação por diferentes poluentes.

Nesse sentido, gestores hídricos, técnicos e diferentes profissionais que lidam com a água subterrânea devem estar capacitados em técnicas modernas para enfrentar os desafios atuais e futuros relativos a esse importante e estratégico recurso, permitindo sua gestão sustentável.

O objetivo geral do workshop é a capacitação de técnicos e profissionais do governo, do setor privado e de organizações não governamentais para a avaliação do impacto e risco de atividades humanas e mudanças climáticas em relação a quantidade e qualidade de água subterrânea e sua mitigação. Por meio de módulos teóricos e práticos, esses profissionais terão acesso a ferramentas modernas para uma gestão mais sustentável desse recurso.

O workshop será promovido pela coordenação do Programa GRAPHIC/Unesco e pelo Centro Internacional de Hidroinformática-CIH/Unesco, com o apoio técnico dos Centros Ceregas (Uruguai).

Este formulário é para que interessados candidatem-se a uma das 20 vagas ofertadas. Os participantes deverão ter um laptop pessoal (a organização do evento irá informar quais as especificações técnicas posteriormente).

Os participantes serão selecionados de acordo com a experiência prévia com águas subterrâneas, relevância dos trabalhos sobre o tema e perspectivas de aplicação dos conhecimentos adquiridos em suas áreas de estudo.

Brazil and other South American countries share important aquifer systems, like the Guarani, taking in account the strong urban expansion and the agricultural frontier of the countries in the region are affecting the quantity and quality of the underground water, either by the reduction of the refill or by the contamination through different pollutants.

Groundwater managers, technicians, and different professionals that handles with the underground water must be trained with modern techniques to face the nowadays challenges and relative futures to this important and strategic resource, allowing the sustainable management.

The general purpose of this Workshop is the training of technicians and government staff, professionals of the private sector and non governmental organizations, in the evaluation of impact and risks of human activities and climate changes to the quantity and quality of the underground water and its mitigation, through theoretical and practical modules, giving to them modern tools to a more sustainable management of this important resource.

The workshop will be promoted by the coordination of the program GRAPHIC/Unesco and the International HydroInformatic Center-IHC/Unesco, with the technical support of Ceregas Center (Uruguai).

This form will be used to apply to one of the twenty available vacancies. The applicant must have a personal laptop (the event organization will inform the technical specification).

The participants will be selected based on the previous experience with underground water, relevancy of the works about the topic and perspectives of application of the acquired knowledge in the given areas of study.

Programa

• Dia 1 (manhã): Abertura PTI - CIH (Boas vindas e apresentação dos projetos do CIH - NIT – Hidrosfera e Unesco). Apresentação dos professores e dos alunos;

• Dia 01 (tarde): Introdução à gestão sustentável de água subterrânea - Graphic e Problemática de Águas Subterrâneas no Brasil - (Henrique Chaves-GRAPHIC/UnB, Brasil).

• Dia 2: Avaliação dos impactos e do risco à quantidade de água subterrânea, incluindo a produção segura de poços (sustainable yield), recarga, e descarga; (Ximena Lacués – Ceregas/Uruguai);

• Dia 3: Avaliação dos impactos e do risco à qualidade da água subterrânea, incluindo a vulnerabilidade à contaminação de aquíferos e o potencial de contaminação de poluentes, e exemplos de aplicação (Alberto Manganelli – Ceregas/Uruguai)

• Dia 4: Satélite Grace e utilização de suas imagens no processo de estimativa do volume e da dinânima da água subterrânea (John T. Reager- NASA-JPL/EUA).

• Dia 05 (manhã) continuação: Satélite Grace e utilização de suas imagens no processo de estimativa do volume e da dinâmica da água subterrânea (John  T. Reager-NASA-JPL/EUA).

• Dia 5 (tarde): Discussão final e fechamento (Professores e UNESCO/GRAPHIC).

Program

Day 1 (morning): Openning PTI – IHC (Welcome and presentations about the projects of IHC – NIT – Hidrosphere and Unesco). Presentation of teachers and students;

Day 1 (afternoon): Introduction to the sustainable management of the underground water - GRAPHIC and the problematic of the underground water in Brazil – (Henrique Chaves-GRAPHIC/UnB, Brasil).

Day 2: Evaluation of impacts and risks to the quantity of underground water, including the safe production of the wells (sustainable yield), recharge and discharge (Ximena Lacués – Ceregas/Uruguai);

Day 3: Evaluation of the impacts and risks to the quality of the underground water, including the vulnerability to the contamination of aquifers and the potential of contamination of the pollutants, examples of application (Alberto Manganelli– Ceregas/Uruguai);

Day 4: Grace Satellite and use of its images in the process of estimate the volume and dynamics of the underground water (John T. Reager-NASA-JPL/EUA);

Day 5 (morning): (continuation) Grace Satellite and use of its images in the process of estimate the volume and dynamics of the underground water (John T. Reager-NASA-JPL/EUA);

Day 5 (afternoon): Final discussion and closure (teachers and UNESCO/GRAPHIC).
